There have been some reports today that FC Barcelona are lining up a move for Chelsea’s on-loan star Thaibaut Courtois, as they seek out a long term replacement for the brilliant Victor Valdes.
Considered to be one of the top young stoppers in the World, Courtois has made a name for himself over in Spain and is no doubt Atletico Madrid’s number one.
And according to reports in the sun, there have been sources close to the 20-year-old that have confirmed that the Spanish giants have made enquiries about the availability of the young man but haven’t made a ‘formal offer’.
The news will put the blues hierarchy on red alert as they see the Belgian eventually taking over from Petr Cech when the big Czech decides to hang up his gloves. And they will surly move quickly to dismiss any links with their future number one.
He cost us £8million from Genk in the summer of 2011. But has failed to even make a single appearance as he has been out on loan ever since even though has a five year contract at the club.
So now he might have a choice to make, as he has the option of returning here and trying to make a name for himself, or head to Barcelona and continue plying his trade in Spain.
