Spanish star Oriol Romeu has not had the best of times in a Chelsea shirt since he arrived at the blues in 2011 and has continuously been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
He has barely featured in any of the blues matches this season and when he has been put in the line-up, he has failed to impress his boss Roberto di Matteo or any fans watching him.
So it was inevitable that he would be linked with a move out of the club this coming winter transfer window, but di Matteo has stated that he cannot afford to let the player go if somebody makes an offer for him.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “Romeu is a very young talent with good prospects for the future,” said manager Di Matteo. “He has offers from other clubs and especially from Spain but I have had calls from Italy as well.
“But he has been playing a bit more lately and he will be playing more in the future. There is absolutely no chance of him leaving in January.”
We are short of players in certain areas and many believe that we will most definitely need to add to the squad as soon as possible, but the idea of Romeu being our main defensive midfielder when John Obi Mikel leaves for the African Nations cup is not what the fans want to see and we will surely need to buy a new defensive midfielder.
