It has been a tough few weeks in the Premier League for Roberto di Matteo and he has seen his side not pick up a win in the last four games, but in the UEFA Champions League that is a different story and on their last outing they managed to get passed an in-form Shakhtar Donetsk side and put themselves firmly in charge to qualify form the group.
It was a stunning display from the blues on their last outing in the cup and they will need something like that again if they widh to overcome a good Juventus side.
They must get get ready for the tough test against Italian Champions Juventus on Tuesday night and Di Matteo has admitted that the best club competition in the world is getting harder every year.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “Every year now, it’s becoming more and more difficult.
“We had APOEL, who showed how a relatively small club can do very well in the Champions League. Every season, you see clubs surprising in the Champions League.
“It becomes more competitive and difficult every season, and clubs with new investment and traditional clubs like Juventus coming back after many years, often ending up in pots two, three or four. It makes it very difficult.”
We are currently level on points with Donetsk at the top of the group and we will need to pick up some kind of result on our visit to Turin, because it is so important that we eventually finish top due to the fact that it will make our journey through to the final that much easier.
