FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala is ‘flattered’ to be linked with a summer move to Chelsea in the summer window.

The big man is wanted by incoming boss Jose Mourinho according to reports and we have already tried to make a move, but our opening bid of £15 million was rejected as they want double that amount.

And although we have a decent back-line, Mangala is seen as John Terry’s long-term replacement as the great man cannot go on forever.

And Mangala has revealed he is happy in Porto, but a move isn’t impossible.

Mangala is quoted as saying by The Sun: “It’s flattering because Chelsea are a great club and Mourinho is a great coach.

“I intended to stay in Porto but you never know what will happen in football, especially when big clubs are involved.”

Mangala is rated as one of the best young defenders in the game and would be a great capture by Mourinho when he makes his return.
