Chelsea set to miss out on top defender
It has been reported in the media lately that Chelsea have been chasing highly-regarded Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia, as they looked to bring him in this coming transfer window to add to their very shaky defence. But the player is set to snub the current European Champions.
The 25-year-old joined Udinese in 2010 from French side Clermont and has impressed with a series of strong performances ever since, which has led to widespread speculation linking him with a move away from the Italian club next month.
Chelsea have struggled defensively this season and have looked very shaky against the big boys. And considering we only have Gary Cahill, David Luiz and John Terry as our only recognised central defenders means that it is imperative that we go out and buy next month, and Benatia was one of our top targets.
However, according to reports in the Metro, he has no intention of leaving Udinese anytime soon for a move to the Premier League. Which will mean we need to switch our attention to somebody else, because we definitely need to strengthen in the defensive line if we are to continue challenging for trophies come the end of the season.
