Chelsea to make summer swoop on unhappy Barcelona midfielder?

There have been reports Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara is on the move in the summer window, as he wants more first team action according to his father. Which will surely put us on alert as we are keen admirers of his ability.

He is seen as a long-term replacement to Xavi, but as the aging Spanish star still has a few years left in him, Thiago is becoming disillusioned with life after only being a bit-part player.

And that has seen him reconsider his future according to the Daily Mail.

As quoted in the Daily Mail, his father said: “My son would play a lot more in any other team in the world. He’s learning a lot playing with great players but Thiago is very ambitious and needs to play.

“No-one knows what might happen in the future. Football changes a lot and anything can happen. If Thiago wants to go to the 2014 World Cup, he needs to play much more.

“Thiago has the quality to succeed at Barca. But he’d play a lot more at another club. He’d get into any other team in the world.”

Thiago is a brilliantly gifted young man and has just been unfortunate that he is behind such world-class footballers in the pecking order.

He could be the ideal replacement for Frank Lampard, and for just £15 million he could be a steal
