He has been criticised from every angle and rightly so, Fernando Torres has not lived up to the £50 million price tag that was placed on his head and now former boss Ruud Gullit has urged the club to get rid of the striker and bring in Radamel Falcao.
Speaking to the Daily Mail he said: “If he can’t still do it at Chelsea, then they are going to have to look somewhere else. I think Falcao is a very good striker.
“I said at the beginning of the season that Chelsea might need another striker but obviously they wanted to give Torres a chance. If he has taken it, I don’t know.”
He then went on to say: “what he did in the past with Atletico, and Liverpool especially, was unbelievable,’ Gullit added.’for some reason he can’t do it at Chelsea, it’s a mystery to me.”
Torres has seven goals this season and many are happy with that fact, but when you look at the talent that is supplying him, he should be in double figures by now and be leading most goal charts in the country.
However, the idea of bringing in Falcao has crossed all of our minds and we would love him at our club, but the fact is that his current club Atletico Madrid will not want to sell him half way through the season and he will not be on the market in January. But he will most definitely be available in the summer, and that’s when we should make our move.
